...began on Friday, the 4th, as we headed south for the holiday weekend. We arrived in KY, picked up my cousin and her husband before making the trip to Bardstown, KY to see the Stephan Foster Story, an outdoor theater production, set in the early 1800s. It is a stunning musical of all of the artist's original songs he wrote during his short lifetime. Take a look at the PBS special that describes more: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/foster/sfeature/sf_poll.html
and you can also vote for your favorite songs!
The kids loved the experience, and it was even grander that it was Foster's birthday! We were part of the celebration, too, as cupcakes were served for the occasion. The costumes are so colorful and fantabulous to look at...
After the show, big beautiful fireworks were an end to the 4th's wonderful party. We enjoyed the huge display!
But, You wouldn't know it from this smoke-filled, awe-inspired picture of Chato and Aly that only moments later a great downpour would insue and we would have to run for cover!
It was wonderful, but I think our hour + drive back would have been better without soaking wet clothes!! Something to remember, i guess, because I wasn't brave enough to take out the camera!!
