A "Field" trip

Remember back to the beginning of the month when a bunch of teachers packed their own off-spring in and headed over to the Field Museum? THAT was in preparation for this...

The third grade took Chicago's Field Museum by storm today. Well, not literally, but might as well say we ran the gamut. Its stunning when you really take the time to let it soak in. I had this opportunity today - and REALLY enjoyed it. I, for the first time in my teaching career, was able to let go of the cord and allow my parent volunteers to venture off with out me (I have way TOO large of a group this year to maintain when together) so we broke into four groups of 7; and seven was SO peaceful (even if I did have all boys) and I tracked all other roaming groups by cell phone. Thank God for technology. I am so glad that we made that prep trip - it really geared me in the right direction today. Can you tell I really enjoyed this trip? They are usually SO tiring.

Leave it to Chicago to spice up our visit with some local fanfare. We found our favorite pterodactyl swooping down upon us fancied up with a Bulls jersey. And off to the side, the statues were adorned with Blackhawks' paraphernalia. It was a hoot when the students sighted it before I did...
After covering Ancient Americas, the most glorified collection of taxidermy-ed animals, and lots of rocks, minerals and soil samples...we headed back to school. The bus rides are always the best bumpy ways to travel, but Nichole and I spent our time snapping pictures of our unsuspecting surroundings...
I am so thrilled to have a photog nerd, like me, playing with the view through the lens of a Nikon!

At the end of the day, all that is left is which way is out...
...thank goodness we enjoyed another happy ending and didn't have to seek alternatives!

I wound down my evening with family. My Aunt Earline and Uncle Tom are in from Tennessee this week, and we were able to have a nice comfortable dinner and chat. Brandan and Aly entertained us with LOTS of Wii games until President Obama took over the airwaves.
Now, it is time to go find the jammies and settle in, for tomorrow is another one of THOSE days...

Aw! You're good! I didn't even upload mine, or take the camera outta my bag! I love the shot of me shooting you, lmao!!! It's hilarious! And the emergency exit is pretty funny, too for some reason!

Seriously?? You've always kept them together?? Nutter!
