a spicy extravagance

An unplanned side trip. A sweet moment in time. A few hours of non-commitment. A spicy extravagance. Elsa and I headed into Pilsen to run some errands after school let out yesterday. We ended up side tripping along the streets and taking in the old town glory. Our tummy's led us to Mundial on 18th StreetAppetizers, an interesting take on empanadas stuffed with the likes of squash and chorizo flavored potatoes, were a curious sight.

While main courses provided huge portions of carne asada a la tampiquena...
...and delightful unusual rice (flavored with bacon!) and camarones. As unhealthy as I am sure it was - we enjoyed the combination of flavors for our impromptu dinner.
It didn't take much to convince Elsa that the fruit-topped tiramisu was calling her name. Filled with coffee liquer and mocha - with an inticingly good touch of jalepeno pepper - this dessert disappeared rather quickly...raspberries, blueberries and all.
With out a doubt...
...a delicious (spicy) extravagance...
...is needed every once in a while.

Where's the other goofy pictures? I had such a blast. We have to do it again real soon. Thank you for going with me into my old, beloved neighborhood.
