It's always a good idea to bring along someone who likes to play in the dirt - when planting the annual flowers. Aly is my "GO TO GIRL" when the soil needs to be turned and mixed. One by one, she mixed the old with some new, tossed what she could into an ancient Radio Flyer, and lined up fresh new planters for this year's batch of backyard color.
At day's end, Aly cleaned up more than nine pots/planters, which made it so easy for me to transfer the red, white, and blue (errr...purple) petunias into their new homes.
Chato handled the turn over of the ground and removed the old stuff that has had it's better day. The Incredible Hulk made a brief appearance to exert his strength...
Now, everything just needs to take root and our backyard should be back on the list of hot summer destinations that will keep us comfortable and relaxed in the days ahead.
