a six week preview

Redecoration of the family room has been on our TO DO LIST since we moved into this home eight years ago. We could never agree on whether we wanted to take this odd shaped "L" room and make it into one room or two. With the paint colors decided on and the date set to get it done - we pulled out the tape measure and started furniture store hopping. We began collecting kokopelli pieces after we moved here, so it wasn't difficult to know we wanted to stick with a rustic/Native American style. As the day progressed, we walked out, successful in the end, having ordered all of the things we would need to design two rooms. It's going to be a bit of a wait, no doubt. (Predicted date of delivery is the first week in July.) But I rushed to snap some pics of some of the pieces we picked out on Saturday before we left the furniture store. Keep in mind I had a game plan upon entering, but it still took FOREVER to get everything in order and all of the pieces selected.

Let's start with some color: Think teals, chocolates, and a touch of lime.
Above you see a close-up of the accent pillows that will line the sofa and our favorite piece:
...this funny looking love seat! It looks crazy here and the lighting is OFF (just look at the accent pillow sitting on it - it is nothing like the snap above) but we chose it as our conversation piece and the kids think it is just awesome and kid-friendly. You will have to believe me for now, but I believe it is a perfect fit in this crazy room.

This is a peek of our sofa:
There is a bit of a switcharoo with this piece. The chocolate color will be the same, but the lounge end and the sectional side of the sofa will be in reverse for the set-up in our home. So - the left will be the right and the right will be the left - KWIM?
The area rug is NOT the one shown. More teals and chocolates for the imagination. The tables are also very different. The coffee table was difficult to snap because of the rug the store displayed it on, but above you can get an idea from the matching console table that will line the back side of the sectional (not the sofa shown in the picture). Lots of earthy tones: browns, burnt oranges, and bronze - solid stone. Again, you'll have to believe me on this one. Our wood floors will have a completely different effect than that of the beige carpeting of the store.

We decided to go rectangular with the table (instead of the round one I listed here in the last post) for the other side of the room. The chairs are the same, but covered in chocolate leather to match , or course. Just to the side of the table, I fell in love with this anchor chest that matches the tables (console and coffee) along with the top to the six person rectangular one.
I can't wait to see it all laid out. Chato did a great job choosing the entertainment center and a cool bar piece for the corner. Needless to say, bread and water will be a common meal in this household. Oh well, Chicago winters keep us in our homes nine months out of the year, it seems, anyway. We will definetly appreciate a space FINALLY finished.
