The way I look at it, there are people who desire speed, so they race cars, bikes, boats, boards. Then there are those who love sports, whether they join in, watch them, or have heart attacks every time things don't go the way they should. In this family, Chato enjoys the athletic side: running races, lifting weights, and teeing off on the front nine. Brandan adores wrestling (yes, most likely with his sister) on TV, playing with action figures (they are not dolls, Mom!), and the high school roman-greco version of the sport. Aly is a bookworm, who reads anything and everything, but most likely to have a Betty and Veronica comic book in her hands. These are good, solid hobbies.
Mine? Well, I must admit that my passion lies deeply rooted in History and memorable moments - records of all the seen and unseen. And when it comes right down to it, it's a pretty pricey little endeavor. So, when I started scrapbooking on the advice of my dear friend Ceci, I may have fell overboard.
It started simple enough. We completed an assignment for a Master's class. We attended an Expo. I signed on for a scrap magazine or two. Then the rest is a blur. Pictures were snapped left and right; the world became a different vision through the lens of my DSLR camera. Everything was a layout or project waiting to be created. And that's when I knew I was addicted. But all is well. I am supported in my endeavors. The kids love to flip through the albums (upon albums) of their lives and little moments. But Chato encourages me to capture everything I can, helping me snap, scrap, and repeat all that we see in this crazy journey we have had the luxury of enjoying. SO, when the time came to do a bit of remodeling and purchase some new furniture one room turned into two and the basement project turned into a comfortable hobby home for me and my ever growing stash of scrapbooking tools and supplies.
The end result?

...a masterpiece for my historical heart.
