hello Apple Hollar, dear friend. We decided late in the day that we wanted to see what kind of apples the orchard would provide us with this season. The weather has been so cold and wet we weren't sure we would make the trip at all, but today presented itself quite well; nice blue skies and 55 degree temps were reasonable to head north to Wisconsin and grab a bushel or two of some Gala, Jonathon, and Honey Crisp apples.
We hit the nail on the head this year! Juicy and large, all of the apples were in great abundance - so easy to grab and eat. The trees were overflowing with the bright red orbs! Everyone got in on collecting the "just right" ones right off the tree and filling our bag to the top!!
Cristian and Alex, Brandan and Aly loved scavenging through the rows and rows of varieties, picking up the biggest and the best; munching their way through many of them!
The day was perfect.
Laura, Chico, Cristian and Alex joined up for their first trip (yes, quite the drive over the Wisconsin line, Chico) to the orchard this year. It was worth it, right? Just look at those faces full of sunshine (hence the squinty eyes!)

...we gathered and ate ourselves silly. At times it wasn't worth the wait to climb back down before you got that FIRST, GREAT bite in!!
