Over the course of the fifteen days that we spent in Mexico, most of our time was spent on Calle Cinco de Mayo. Chato's parents home here is where we stayed for the duration of our trip, with the exception of a few nights out and about in Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. Ocampo is the coolest place to be in central Mexico. It is guaranteed that you can drive a radius of an hour or at the most two and half to reach many other beautiful cities across this region and still return home at night (we cheat and stay away to enjoy the city longer!) Over the years this has been our home base to many gateways like Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque, San Juan de los Lagos, Lake Chapala, Aijiic, and others.
Our last day in Ocampo was spent at the "huerta". The kids rocked themselves back and forth on a hammock. We dined on true outside grilling - a brick foundation filled with dried nopal brush.
The kids played soccer along the rough broken rocks and old structure that once maintained great farming and pens for livestock.

It was time to pack it up Tuesday morning, though. One last hit for Tortas Panchos...

It was time to pack it up Tuesday morning, though. One last hit for Tortas Panchos...
For those of you who LOVE (and can't live without) Tortas Panchos, this is the man behind them! For those of you who have no idea about Tortas Panchos, imagine your favorite food in the entire world and you can only get it once every couple of years or so...This is how MY BOYS feel when they get to eat it everyday for two weeks straight:
