A St. Louis Pit Stop

continuing along our 66 ways...
Our Route 66 journey led us into Missouri, just across the Mississippi River, and into downtown St. Louie.
------------------------
#23. Make sure to note the state motto upon entering one for the first time. (I'm intrigued enough to do some research on why Missouri is named the "Show Me State". Does anyone else know?)#24. Look for landmarks to determine where you are.
(There are a few you just can't miss when you turn the corner.)
#25. It's nice when you get a great room in town, but even better when it comes with a VIEW!!!
(This was a shot from Mom & Dad's room.)
#26. Don't pass up the chance to document your good fortune.
(We excite very easily, No?)
#27. Take it all in - scenery can be breath taking!
(This is the VIEW from our room!)
#28. Determine which is bigger - YOU or your surroundings!
(Some anxiety is building in those who have begun to fear heights....)
#29. Become a part of the art.
(Posing like you are famous always makes a statement!)
#30. Remember why you made the trip.
(Happy Birthday, Momma!)
#31. Make sure to pass your camera for family pics.
(You did a good job, Momma...out of 25 takes of trying to include US and the ARCH in the same frame!)
#32. Stretch it out; you just might touch the sky.
(Completely B's idea here...but just didn't get the effect we wanted.)
#33. Take advantage of a good setting.
(...and pose your best side!)
#34. This is one adventure...time to start dreaming of others!
(I SO have a travel bug.)
#35. Be content.
(We SO are.)
#36. Don't NOT do something because it "MIGHT" be -- do something AT LEAST once so you don't say "WHAT IF"?
(Brandan's really anxious at this point about making a trip up into the peak of the arch.)
#37. Be confident.
(Some of us have NO fear.)
#38. Look for a new perspective.
(I love this challenge and glad I know great people who wanted to try it too!)
#39. Let the sunset, but don't let the day go without memories.
(Who's not a sucker for my beautiful family's silhouettes?)
#40. Know that THESE ARE THE DAYS.
(We are really lucky to be able to make these trips with Momma and Papa. But we still have those "if only" moments...)
#41. Know that the world is humongous and you are just one part of it.
(The designers of this monument are SO ingenious.)

#42. When afraid, hug Grandma's neck.
(We were inside this egg shaped capsule for about 4 minutes - not recommended for the claustrophobic!)
#43. Know the trip to the top is worth the strife.
(Brandan quickly realized the world has an excellent view, even at the top of narrow, tall arches!)

#44. Being together on Momma's birthday will certainly be something to remember.
HOPE you LOVED it as much as we did...
St. Louis, you know have a place in all of our hearts...
...I wonder what adventures the next morning brings???
Stay tuned...

I love arch pictures so much! What awesome framing:) I didn't even know you could go to the top of the arch, cool! Shaun is terrified of heights, I don't know if he would even do that! Can't wait to see the rest of the trip's pictures!

Aren't those elevators to the top of the arch awful? So cramppy in there!

I believe the state got its nickname from a state rep's speech in the late 1800s.
