The sweetest day...

Hallmark holiday? Not in this house. I happen to take wordage very literal. So, if my calendar states "Sweetest Day" then it must mean lots of goodies and sweet treats are to be served and enjoyed. My point exactly. The Sweetest Day out of the year.Brandan and I prepared apple and cherry turnovers for breakfast. He was very generous with the stuffing, not taking into account of the size of the dough, but YUM. The perfect sweet to start off the day and set the stage for some holiday decor.

We FINALLY (not late at all considering the neighborhood has been up in lights since September) got out all of our autumn splendor......which eventually leads up to Trick-or-Treating and plenty of candy by the bucketful. Another sweet way of looking at the day.

A few of us got to sneak in a break, kicking back to read a scary themed book, while still in jammies and her brother's HUGE BEARS themed slippers...
We began construction of our "ofrenda", an alter of a few of the loved ones we will celebrate for Dia de los Muertos.
Laura had the magnificent idea of making tostadas...
..and they were GOOOOOOD...
..well, at least the guys agreed.
And we were able to wrap up the sweetest part of the day with a lovely dessert, with thanks to my friend Pam pointing me in the direction of the Baked Bree blog, where there are all kinds of sweets and goodness. We had some kiddie sized delights, alongside...

...some adult sized yummy goodness...
...a great way to end the sweetest day.
