I purchased a copy of the Taste of Home magazine's Christmas cookie special edition last week. The kids set off to skimming the pages and picking their favorites. There was only ONE that both Aly and Brandan agreed on: the Lime Christmas Tea cookie.
Brandan was still in "sledding" mode and a bit scrooge-like when it came to talk of holiday cookies a week before the BIG day (he's SO not a plan ahead kind of guy recently - more spur of the moment, i guess). So, Aly and I set out to get started. We kept joking that the dough looked like playdough. We followed the recipe. We baked them up, and put a cream cheese drizzle across them...
...and as cute as they were...
we might end up shellacking them and using them as ornaments, because they came out tasting like playdough! Bleh! There was something about the lime flavor versus the flour that was NOT a good combination. Oh well, six more days of various other recipes to come...

My mom used to make rosettes when I was a kid. Do you deep fry them?
