This life is picture perfect

As we push through the weeks around here (and 2010 sure has flown by), we really have it made. Our life, truly, is picture perfect. Are the pictures perfect? No. Are we perfect? Absolutely not. So, then how can I get away with such pompously stated title? I'm not sure that I can, but I can tell you that even though I don't take pictures of the dirty dishes in the washer or the toys all over the floor (alongside crumbs and empty glasses) I know that we are blessed in what we have and in all that we have the opportunity to do.

On this day, in particular, we slept in a little later than normal (because Michael Bublé's concert was awesome the night before!) and we stayed in "comfy clothes" all day. I didn't get to work on my homemade Christmas gift list again, but instead argued and assisted Brandan in his Science Fair project board. I forced myself to get caught up with grading papers, teasing myself that my reward would be to update my blog if I was a good girl --- and then the internet went out. (Thank you, Comcast!) Chato and I snuck out to the grocery store, leaving the little "Mommy can I have's" at home with their grandparents. It was then I really realized just HOW COLD it had gotten in this neck of the woods. And before I knew it the day was gone.

So, as we struggle to keep up with loads of laundry, every night's homework (x2 if you don't count my teacher bag) and two very active kids...Chato and I still make sure to endure the everyday components and add in some fun stuff that help to make the day interesting. We can't ask for more. The clothes will be rehung in the closet, the piles of books will be rearranged on the shelf (little bookworm does a good job messing it up over and over), and the refrigerator will be restocked again -- on another day. But as for today...life is good. And we are fortunate for it with our warm beds and clothing (granted Brandan needs some new boots) and thank God for letting us live in such a way.

Just remember, it may not be here ALL THE TIME, but we are living it up...amongst the spills of milk and the cobwebs in the corners, and you will forgive us if we don't show it all.
