Cars, Cupcakes, and Catch ups...

For a Valentine's Day present, we took Papa to the Chicago Auto Show.
It has been a very long time since we even attempted to battle the crowds to see the new concept cars at McCormick Place, but worth it - if it made my Daddy happy.
I used to love going to the Auto show when I was little. My Aunt Ruth, Uncle Bobby, and cousin Claudia used to take me along for the ride when I was a kid. I used to spend the entire time collecting the car brochures and handouts in one of the many plastic bags they would offer. My Dad LOVED when I came home with them and would spend hours looking at them all.
---------------
Today, I can't say the same. Maybe it's the economy. Maybe it's the eco-friendly upgrades. There weren't many brochures to be had (at least that were interesting or cool). The bags had been altered to the nice reusable ones, but were hard to come by. you had to take a test drive or participate in some lengthy survey to get most of them. Phooey.
-----------------
The kids did get to play the Kinect system over at the Chevy area...
That was really cool!
---------------
The crowds were massive. It was expected for a weekend, though. They did say attendance was up for the first time in quite a while. So start counting heads...if you saw that adult ticket price on what I was holding in my hand above at $11 a human being!!!
Later that same evening, Aly (not Brandan!) wanted to make strawberry cupcakes for Valentine's...
Yes. She licked her fingers. I wouldn't recommend dipping into the ones that she put the icing on...
----------------------
The next morning, I decided to leave my little sweathearts something...
...and yeah, they weren't cut perfectly, but they got the message that i love them so.
(Thanks to my main sweetie who nicely snapped a picture of them for me, because I was running out the door!!)
I ended the day by bringing home a simple box of Dunkin Donuts Munchkins.
--------------
The simple things, you know.

I'll be back soon with some more Joy of Love challenges, but I am glad I could catch up a bit.
