The truth be told...I LOVE this stuff.
I am a fan of watching the snow fall, heading out to shovel it up, and spend the rest of the time inside eating up stored food and living off what we have. (I'm part squirrel - I LOVE to have stuff on hand in case of emergencies!) So, when word went out that Chicago would be hit hard - I counted the seconds to see if it would really happen. We were BLESSED beyond belief yesterday to all get home in good time, hunker down to hear the 60 mph winds, and NOT lose power overnight. We headed outdoors early on; while it was still coming down at about two inches an hour. Needless to say....

The kids could have cared less how strong the blizzard whipped across their faces, but rather how tall the snow drifts were at our front door...
If someone injected a serum into their system today - it had to have been labeled OVERJOY on account of SNOW DAY.
We spent a good hour and a half trying to get a path from the front door out and another from the backdoor to the alley.
I tried to capture my reflection in the back door to show the footage from there towards the garage, but the falling snow kept stealing my focus!! It got to the point to where I had to put the camera away because the wetness was getting to dangerous to the lens and body - so wish I could purchase a water proof casing.
We went into warm up and have some lunch for a while, before heading back out. Early afternoon afforded us some nice sunshine and easier shoveling...
The sidewalks are still difficult to manage, but I guess the buses will be running if I need to head back to school on Friday.
...everyone made a great effort at getting the area cleared. The side streets are still really rough for any vehicle that doesn't have 4 wheel drive (Thank goodness our Suburban does!) so Chato should be able to get out in the AM. Thankfully, too, CPS has awarded us with one more SNOW DAY to enjoy tomorrow! WOO HOO! Can't you believe it!? I almost didn't!!!
