The crew got together to run the Wrigley race this morning, with an exception or two......or maybe I should say there was a substitution? Chato didn't run this 5k, but Brandan did!
It was a cool, cloudy start on the day, and the wind was a HUGE factor. For his first real race, Brandan started just like his daddy, at the front of the pack, running with the big boys and the speed demons.

...and IF it had been official, he would have placed 6th in his division (10-14 year old boys) of top 25 runners, with a time of 25:18. But, alas.....
...it wasn't official. There was a mistake made with registration. When Chato signed him up for the race he forgot to check "timed chip" on the form. Therefore, Brandan wasn't issued a chip like we expected. Jose saved the day. He let Brandan use his chip so he could get an "official" time, but it wouldn't grant him recognition in his division.
It was a great first time out, no matter the mix-up. Brandan got to see the competitive side of the racing world, feel the energy of the pace, and refuel with good snacks and wipe the mud off for another day. He's got the bug now. He will be looking for more 5k races this season. Thank YOU, Jose for helping out this new speed demon!!
