Antiquing

It SO wasn't my idea.
I was SO in agreement, though.
Vintage girl has undeniably raised a vintage son.

Brandan requested a trip over to LaGrange for the sole purpose of stopping at the antique stores. Each time we are there it is for some reason or another, but never one to take the time to stroll into the past and discover it's wares.

Yesterday, at his request, we did so.

Boy, we have been missing out! La Grange is only a couple miles away from us and have some of the best antique stores we have ever been to. We LOVED it...
...but I will say that it breaks my heart each and every time I see discarded pictures in a box with a price tag on them. How horrible a fate! A lost family, a picturesque homeplace, tin-type photos with no loving family to cherish them or marvel in their ancestors' faces. I know that the antique malls are full of family treasures of years gone by, but pictures are on a WAY TOO PERSONAL level and cannot have a price tag!! If I thought I could riffle through them and uncover their true owners I would have bought them on the spot!! Unfortunatley - for the same reason they found home in this box - most of the photos had no labels, no names to assist in identifying them. :( Hence my broken heart.
There were acres of goodies here. It wasn't possible to sift through it all (which will require a return trip) just to see all the pieces of historic americana.
Yes. I see that adorable little accordion camera stretched out on that beautiful old television model. I did not bring him home with me. His price tag was a bit too large for my already extensive collection. Sorry, little guy!
--------------
I found tons of things that reminded me of my grandparents, even some pieces that my Mom still owns today. I have old political buttons and memorabilia that could have some fancy price tags - but not on my watch!
--------------
I did come home with some close-to-my-heart trinkets...
I found an old iron Eiffel for Aly, a set of BINGO cards for scrap, and an endearing replica of my grandmother's biscuit cutter...Sweet.
Look for me to use that REALLY SOON.
There was an old glass stein that reminded my of one I used to drink out of at my Grandma's, and it brought me to tears to see it. I may have to go back and get it.
-------------
We did hit another local farmer's market...
...but (this makes five) we haven't been too successful in finding excellent produce. Brandan did find some sweet honey sticks to invest in; flavors like sour strawberry honey, mango and watermelon, lime, ginger, etc...

Another sweet summer day.
