finally falling

We are edging in on mid November and it is absolutely autumn around here. The leaves are beautiful. The air is completely crisp. The runners are wearing hats. The trick or treat kids wore sweaters.
-------------
Unsurprisingly, we've been busy.
Last week and the week before that flew right by us in not much more than a blink. Brandan ran the Hot Chocolate 5k. We were taken back by the size of it. We didn't have 20,000 runners in mind. We know that is saved for the Shamrock Shuffle 8k in the Spring. Now, add tons of hot chocolate cups and drippy, gooey fondue and THIS was a race...
There wasn't much opportunity in this crowd to get a cool family shot like the Carrera de los Muertos race the week before (Thanks to Ana and Javier!!!) So, we tried to pull off a reflective surface on the Art Institute's new Modern Wing...
...yeah, that didn't work to well.
--------------
B's entire race was on city streets, but he complained that the crowd of runners pushed him up off the blacktop and onto the curb quite a bit. :(
There was a glitch at the beginning of the race, though. A semi-truck got stuck under one of the viaducts blocking the runner's path. They diverted the runners, which in turn lengthened the 5k a bit. I think B did awesome - still in the TOP quartile of male runners his age!! Find the DATA here. Crispy weather, hot chocolate, and a good run...not bad at all.
-----------------
I had forgotten completely- I didn't upload any Halloween pics. In truth, I didn't take too many at all. I forgot my gloves at home and kept my hands in my pockets as we walked about ringing doorbells. The kids are still kids here. I hope they never lose the ability to dress up...
...and treat themselves to good time.
