hidden treasures

Aren't the best messes always hidden behind closed doors? I'd like to think so! In my heart I believe EVERYONE has a closet that could fall out on top of them (the Lord knows I sure do!), but I have been making a grand effort at getting organized...my closets, my junk, my life!
These past few weeks, I have been intensely working at the three main exterior closets (the ones outside the bedrooms) in an attempt to become more accountable for the endless amount of "stuff" we use and attempt to say we must have to survive. It has been very time consuming and an unbelievable task to accomplish, but with the gracious help of IKEA and their storage systems...I can say that I've made a dent in the layers of things that used to lay on the floors and be to high for the kids to reach.
The basement is where I must say that I am the proudest. Being a teacher, my greatest collections of books lined the walls on stacked wall shelving just above my endless scrapbooking tables full of kits, ribbon and adhesive. NO MORE. All teaching books have been sorted and stored...
...and the door can be closed on another chapter of organization in this pack rat's life.

Doesn't it feel so good to get organized? I did this to a few closets and cabinets in the house, but I have so many more to go! can't wait until the basement is finished. There are two huge, walk-ins down there with my name on them! :)
