my kind of field trip

On any given day, a field trip sets me off on a different train of thought. I would, typically, have a student name list on hand, be ready to count to thirty at least a hundred times in a two hour period, and a first aid kit ready to go in my blue backpack. Today was NOT one of those days. Today, two teachers set off to see what they could learn. Lessons on a "To Do List" and my trusty blue backpack filled with four different camera lens, a FLIP, a mini tripod, and a remote control for the timer went along for the adventure. It was a true treat for two Mommy/Teachers to hit the pavement without a bunch of tag-a-longs!! Cameras in hand, Nichole and I had every intention to conquer shutter speeds and aperture with the scenery of our beautiful downtown Chicago as our setting. Ready, Set, Snap...
We had a sidekick prop, Luigi from CARS, courtesy of Max (Nichole's gorgeous 5 year old son). He worked out just about as cool as Flat Stanley would in his travels. So......was nifty along every stop through out our city.

We encountered dressed up bus stops ready to celebrate Easter... ...the revelry of State Street's powerful presence...From State Street we headed East toward Millennium Park to see what we could focus on. 59 cents to the reader who can guess what is odd about the building-scape picture below. We enjoyed lots of Pop Up art around every turn, it seemed. There were painters on the plaza with gorgeous imaginations and view points.
Even on the street sides, miniature galleries were showcasing some interesting works. We should have taken the time to look closer, because the more I look at this crazy piece below, the more questions I have about "him" and almost wish I could bring him home!
We made a promise to sit and gaze - but somehow our lens walked us onward and drew us away from staying still.
We taught ourselves a lot. It was a perfect field trip. I can't wait until we escape again and check off some more on that "To Do List"!! We definitely made a dent, but there is still so much more to see and so much more to find.
