day three: WITL

I've heard them say it before...day three is the hump in the road. Well, that was certainly the case here. I woke up all achy and coughing, but to work I went. Nothing more that a bit of orange juice and toast for breakfast.
Maybe it was the pile of dishes that were in the sink at five o'clock in the morning that didn't help my disposition. It was sometime after this that I decided to drive myself to work instead of waiting for the bus in the 49 degree cloudy & damp air.
-----------------------------------------------

At some point in my commute, the kids were up, showered and making lunches for school.
--------------------------------------------
On arrival to my school, I was greeted by our librarian who was showing off all of the brand new books that were gifted to us through a grant. There is nothing in the world like a gazillion brand new hard cover books ready to be read!!
Just after I met with my wonderful team members, a mix of second, third and special education teachers...a pretty brave group to be sitting next to our newest class member: a praying mantis egg sac!
--------------------------------------------
My students were very sympathetic to my hoarseness and constant hacking; they were hard workers the entire day. They have really enjoyed our new unit on poetry!
The one place you will never find me sitting in my classroom: behind my messy desk.
But, if there is a "break to be had" you will find me grading papers, making copies, or entering grades into Gradebook...while snacking on some "lunch".
Needless to say, I made it home in time to pass out on the couch like a sick dog.
Notes:
I survived. The kids are taking pictures this evening as I sit snuggled up on the couch in layers with the laptop on my uh...err...lap. If I had the energy, I would check out their shots and add them in. I guess i'll add an addendum later - much later.

I won't mention the hour of pictures I didn't capture because my eleven year loves to argue with the Queen of arguments.

I also challenge Chato's crew at work to play part here! Come on, everybody...I'll post the GOOD ones only!!

I feel your pain. We have a major flu virus in our house right now. The last pic of you on the couch is how I have felt for 3 days straight! Feel better soon! You need your energy to finish this week!
