I think the pictures tell the stories of thousands of teachers throughout CPS, the state of Illinois, and across the nation......and I was glad to be a part of it with these fine teachers. I think the one thing that pulled my heartstrings EVEN more than marching along side teachers who have put in countless hours in the classroom was the fact that the signs were hand made - just like any hardworking teacher would make them - with the tools they use everyday: tape, poster board, yarn, and yard sticks!!
Schools in nearly every region of the country are dealing with a funding crisis, and 300,000 educators are facing layoffs. If we don't fix this funding gap by adding the education jobs fund to the emergency funding bill, our students will face overcrowded classrooms, program cuts and the loss of essential services.

That is just terrible-were there parents protesting too? I would be if there going to be that many kids in my child's class. Ugh. Good for you for going out and supporting what you believe in!
