...somewhere along the way I am fortunate enough to pull in others' attention and get them interested in some of my increasingly "indie" ways. If it's not for my love of preservation (i.e. scrapbooking) or my knack for obsessing over the past, I am convincing people that collecting antique cameras is my newest hobby. The best part is when they start to help out!! So Vintage Girl (envision an aged lace cape) now has an old-fashioned, venerable side-kick to account for my newest time worn pieces: Give a big round of applause to my side-kick, "Classic Claudie"(my cousin Claudia), who found not one or two, but ELEVEN vintage babies in the course of one day! Claudia and her husband Dean strolled along part of the Russell Springs, KY corridor of the 127 - "World's Longest Yard Sale", back at the beginning of August. Left and right, they found and purchased these cute relics...
I now have five versions of the Kodak Brownie camera. I've got to spiffy them up and look for their out-dated manuals online, but aren't they cute?
I'm going to call this one (above) my little grasshopper. I am assuming he has stolen the spot for oldest camera on my shelf, coming in around late 1920s or so. I will take the time to investigate his ancient past soon.
A not so ancient fossil, the Kodak Instamatic may look more modern friendly to most people (but I say...since he was made before I was born he still qualifies as a vintage piece on MY shelf!)
Now, for those of you who love Poloroids, I have three primitive models. Classic Claudie sent Vintage Girl a 335, a 320, and a 420 . The 320 (below) is in the roughest of shape. I am assuming that it was put away in an attic without a storage case and left to collect fifty years of dust. The others have snap shut cases and are in good to excellent shape (see first picture in blog).
Vintage Girl's heart is content. And she is eternally thankful to her side-kick, Classic Claudie. (Yes, Dean, we need to get you a nickname, too!) Love you both.
