movin' on up

The start of this week brought about a lot of ripping out and building on and UP. First went the family room - GONE - followed by the small bathroom and two-thirds of my old bedroom - GONE! The back side of the house had disappeared by this point, and had a smiling "Man with a Plan" Angelo at the helm.Try as I might, I don't know all of the details. I am thankful for my mid day pictures that Mom sends me, so I can SEE what is going on over there. SO MUCH happened this week, too! First went the back of the house to make way for a new kitchen, family room, and sun room on the first floor...
Next came the framing of it all. It is a bit hard to decipher it here but the house is to the right and the backyard is behind to the left. This picture is centered on the sun room.
We got a little too anxious to see it all and headed over on Wednesday evening, just before dusk. At that point, the entire first floor had been framed, with a few of the extremities stretching up to the second floor. For those of you who know my Daddy, you know he is lovin' every minute of this. From years of adoring house magazines and googling over lavish outlays - this is his heart! I wonder what Jim is saying from the heavens?

By the next day, the second floor framing was in mid production, and we HAD to go back and see it again.
The basement stairs are in now, too.
At the back of the house looking in, you can see what remains of my old bedroom (occupancy from 1986 - 1993 when I went to college) that back wall will eventually come down too.
Earlier in the day, Mom had sent me a picture where the work to construct the upstairs balcony had begun. That same evening, I was able to climb (just a bit) to see up and over the balcony.
And, as of Thursday evening, the outside structure was touching the sky.
Mom and Dad are refusing to "move out" yet, thus why the original kitchen and family room doors have been boarded shut.
The exteriors are poking out...
...but by mid day yesterday, we were movin' on up...
...we've just got to try to make it a point to make it during the day - not as the sun is going down!
Hello, October...let's get this structure closed in!

Oh my, when is the estimated finish date? I had no idea they were doing that many renovations! Whoa! You are such the good documenter too:)
