Aly decided that MINT MERINGUE would be the cookies of the day, but we figured that we could fit in the sugar cookies somewhere too. We made up the dough for the sugar cookies first...but more on that later.
We pulled out the recipe (once again) from the Taste of Home cookie book. Can you see the nice fluffy looking pillow-like treats in the bottom right corner? Yeah, those. We followed the directions, step by step.

Okay, so meringue is NOT our thing. Check that off the list. But you have to admit that those little miniature chocolate chips do look cute.
Next up? The sugar cookies! YUM. We typically have always used store bought mixes or pre-made rolls of sugar dough. What a dork I am never realizing just how easy sugar dough is to make. Brandan handled the mixer and Aly sorted the ingredients.
We set the dough aside in the fridge and went on to make the above mentioned FLAT minty concoctions. After dinner, we rolled out the massive amounts of sugar dough, and got to cutting it up. Brandan is squarely in the mood for baking now. Sleeves rolled up and full force into shaping each cookie...
and had their attention for a good hour!
I love that these bake up so fast. But somewhere along the way, I lost count...

Tired of cutting with the cookie cutters, Aly and I decided to take the last remaining bit of dough and bake up some surprise cookies. We inserted a Milk Dud candy inside the remaining 12 cookies...
