Where'd it go?

They said there were nine days in all. I don't believe it. From start to finish, it flashed right by us. From Aly's birthday cake through MOA, Brandan's race, and right smack into Easter, our spring break flew by way too fast.

In fact, we have never waited until Easter day to dye our eggs...
We tried something new this year. Maybe it's the preteen, able to handle it, nature in us lately...but "Bright & Shiny" sounded cool and interesting to spiffy up an easter egg. Hmph. Aly and I couldn't get the hang of it. Along came Brandan to the rescue. He refused to read the directions (like the sensible women in the house) and pulled a coin out of his pocket. Where we couldn't transfer the metallic shine to the egg, he was able to do with minimal effort. And in the end, our Easter eggs were just as the packaging said: BRIGHT & SHINY.

So, Aly and I moved on to the bunny cake...
My mom made these with me, and I have continued the tradition with my kids...
...hee hee... can you say 1978 or so?

We couldn't find the skinny black licorice or even a thin gel frosting to add in the whiskers, so we adapted with jellybeans and blue frosting...
...and he's a bit lop-sided, but tasted pretty good using Pam's helpful link to this coconut cake recipe. But now I am in trouble, because no one wants to help eating this poor bunny...I guess I'll have to tackle it on my own - GOT MILK?

Lissette saved the day and hid the eggs around the house (yucky weather!) for the kids to hunt.
There were 76 in her "satchel" bunny pack.

Leave it to these two to search high and low for them...
...goof balls.

Oh, did I forget to mention that we hit a Cubs game on Friday? Probably because I am trying to wipe it from my memory. It was SOOOOOO cold. It was SOOOOO rainy too. I didn't even take my camera on the train or to the game for fear of soaking it. So, no one will tattle on me for swiping this cute FROZEN picture off of photo site of the boys, right?
Chato, Leo, Brandan, and Dario braved the elements while the girls stayed up a bit higher in the nose bleed section, praying that the wind would die down and the wetness would cease. yea...right.

We didn't survive the length of the game. Instead we went to Moe's Cantina just down Clark. With lots of big screen and PLENTY of heat and hot food, it was easier to swallow the huge loss (12-2) to the Dodgers.

And that was it.
Spring break wrapped up in a knot.
Guess we will start a summer countdown, if only we could find some SPRING weather...UGH!
