We love being hometown tourists just about as much as we love traveling.
I am so glad that Tammy and the boys got to come in for the weekend and stay with us, but even more so because it got us out of the boring weekend routines and out and about downtown! Taylor needed to see the Sears....errr...Willis Tower - (So cannot and will not get used to that name!) and it is funny that the last time I was there (years ago) was with Tammy when she came into town while I was still attending UIC (so maybe some 15 years ago?!)We decided to put the bunch of us on CTA - you gotta love that view!! We took the train down to the Quincy stop and walked the block over to Jackson. Before you knew it we were shooting upwards in the elevator to the 103rd floor, or more aptly named THE SKYDECK. Only in the past year has the tower had this new exhilarating feature. You can stand in a completely transparent box on the OUTSIDE of the building. Because of the overly bright sunlight, we couldn't get a clear picture...

...but it was a tremendously cool feeling stepping out onto that "see through" floor for the first time!
With a few new favorite token pictures in our back pockets (no fair, their Nikon DSLR was hiked up on a 10 foot tripod glaring downward so as not to attract the harsh sunlight that we got inour self taken pictures!) we hammed it up for a good memories sake. First, all of the little cousins...
We headed back down, barely making it out of the gift shop alive, and walked back to the train station for a trip home to grab some Brown's Chicken for Tammy's favorite Sunday meal.We love you, Tammy! Thank you for staying with us this weekend. It went by WAY too FAST. Maybe we can make it to NOLA soon!

Yikes....I think I would be too nervous to walk out on the sky deck!
So glad you guys had a great weekend!
Can you believe I still haven't been to the sky deck. Too many people in our family with anxiety. I'll have to go alone sometime. LOL
